Chief Visits
Troops in Iraq
Chief of the General Staff of the Mongolian Armed Forces, Maj. Gen. Tsevegsuren Togoo visited 150th Peacekeeping Battalion soldiers conducting peacekeeping operations with Coalition Forces at Camp Charlie near Al Hillah, Iraq, in late 2003. He reviewed the Mongolian troops, received briefs on peacekeeping operations, reviewed base security provided by his soldiers, observed convoy security procedures, gave two well-received speeches, distributed awards and promotions, and hosted a lunch for Coalition commanders from Hungary, Slovakia, and the Philippines.
In Baghdad, he met Mr. Mark M. Walker, Chief of Staff, Ministry of Transportation, Coalition Provisional Authority, who praised the professionalism, high morale, and competency of the Mongolian soldiers in Coalition peacekeeping/stabilizing operations. He also commented on the high leadership marks the troops gave their Commander, Lt. Col. Bayarmagnai. He also was briefed by the Hungarian Contingent Commander, Brig. Gen. Janos Isaszegi.
Maj. Gen. Togoo also visited the Commander of the Multinational Division of Coalition Forces in South-Central Iraq, Polish Maj. Gen. Andrzej Tyszkiewicz. Maj. Gen. Tyszkiewicz said the Mongolian soldiers in the Polish sector were highly effective in providing base security and convoy security for Coalition forces in the South-Central sector.
