Some of the 40 U.S. sailors and Marines from the USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) donated their off duty time to partially restore St. Barnabas, a small Hong Kong community shelter for the elderly and homeless, putting in new floors, and restoring and painting walls and window frames.

The U.S. Navy’s submarine force is 100 years old. While there were many unofficial American submarines going back to 7 September 1776, the U.S. Navy’s first official submarine was the USS Holland (SS-1), commissioned 12 October 1900.
