A Level One: General Survey to discern the mine/UXO situation and impact in Thailand, began 1 May 2000. It will take 10 months to complete at a cost of US $1.12 million, funded by Norway and the United Kingdom. It will collect information on the general locations of suspected mine/UXO contaminated areas, and result in a comprehensive report of the situation in Thailand.

The information gathered during the Level One survey will provide the core data for the creation of a data processing capability. The management and analysis of that data will enable TMAC to prioritize and focus the efforts of their subordinate mine action organizations throughout Thailand.
