Commenting on the evolving bilateral relationship, Royal Brunei Air Force Maj. Jofri bin Hj. Abdullah said, "We wanted to explore new areas for defense cooperation. Our objective is to enhance mutual confidence to promote stability in the Pacific region." Noting the U.S. military’s emphasis in the Pacific on engaging regional armed forces in mutually beneficial cooperative relationships, the major concluded, "Your country’s engagement in promoting stability and peace is reassuring."

The Brunei officers are welcomed on board a U.S. Coast Guard Utility Boat by BM3 Anita Carpenter to observe water rescue equipment and techniques.
