RIMPAC 2004:
Demonstrating Shared Resolve for Regional Peace and Security

Seven nations participated in Exercise Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2004, the Asia-Pacific region’s largest international maritime exercise.

A warm Indian welcome and regional cooperation were apparent at the 28th Pacific Armies Management Seminar (PAMS XXVIII) in New Delhi, India.

COOPERATIVE COPE THUNDER 2004:
Sharpening Combat Air Skills

The state of Alaska, home to the largest U.S. military overland and airspace training area — the Alaskan Range Complex — hosted COOPERATIVE COPE THUNDER 2004,the largest multinational air combat training exercise in the Pacific region.

MALABAR 2004:
Enhancing Peace and Security in the Asia-Pacific Region

About 2,000 Indian and U.S. Navy personnel took part in Exercise MALABAR 2004 off the southwest coast of India.

Happenings

  • Cambodian and U.S. Army, Pacific (USARPAC) personnel build the 55-meter Soeur River Bridge.
  • A combined team of Philippine and U.S. Army engineers and U.S. Navy Seabees completed work on a new four-room schoolhouse at the Jose C. Pastor Elementary School.
  • Gen. Yoshimitsu Tsumagari, Chief of Staff, Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF), receives the U.S. Legion of Merit medal.
