The former Commander of the U.S. Pacific Command, Adm. Dennis C. Blair, USN (Ret.), has been elected President and Chief Executive Officer of the Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA), a think tank in Alexandria, Virginia. IDA provides analyses and advice to the U.S. Government on national security issues. Here Adm. Blair receives the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun, 2nd Class, awarded by the Emperor of Japan and presented by Minister of State for Defense Gen Nakatani, shortly before leaving the Pacific Command and retiring.
