In
his welcoming letter to JWID 2002 participants, Lt. Gen. Joseph K. Kellogg,
Jr., Director of Command, Control, Communications, and Computer Systems,
U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, said, "Today, JWID has an even greater
importance helping to solve issues that will improve coalition operations.
I look forward to successes we achieve through your efforts tackling
those tough and challenging issues. Your efforts will directly support
our efforts in the Global War on Terrorism."
The
successes achieved during JWID 2002 support Lt. Gen. Kelloggs
views. The growing number of participating nations highlight the need
for innovative and automated methods to collect, analyze, and display
information that provides a common view of a crisis situation. Such
efforts can save lives, lessen financial strains, limit or even prevent
destruction of infrastructure, and lead us closer to a more peaceful
world.
