Exercise COBRA GOLD 2000, a combined Thai-U.S. military field training exercise, was conducted throughout Thailand during May 2000. This was the 19th in the series that began in 1982. COBRA GOLD does not remain static. It continues to evolve, closely reflecting potential regional crises and challenging its participants.

Approximately 5,000 Thai forces participated in the exercise, including elements of the Royal Thai Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force. The Singapore Armed Forces were in the exercise as planners for the first time, rather than just observers. More than 30 Singaporean officers served on the staff of Combined-Joint Task Force COBRA GOLD.
