Co-hosts
of the conference were Maj. Gen. Dat Ahmad Badrus bin Othman,
Director General of the Malaysian Armed Forces Health Services Division
and Maj. Gen. Nancy Adams, USARPAC Surgeon and Commander, Pacific Regional
Medical Command and Tripler Army Medical Center.
"The
theme of this years conference (was) Military Medical Interoperability
and I am sure that it (was) a topic of great interest especially in
the light of global events in recent years," Maj. Gen. Badrus said.
This
was Maj. Gen. Adams sixth Asia-Pacific Military Medicine Conference.
She was a participant in India and the co-host of two conferences in
New Zealand, and one each in Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia. Retiring
in June 2002 after 35 years in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, she said farewell
to all the delegates and challenged them to continue to improve future
conferences saying, "While each conference is distinct in terms
of venue, I have come to appreciate, from knowing my colleagues in military
medicine, the goodness of humanity that is the same throughout the world."
