Royal Thai Army special operations troops demonstrate a pilot extraction operation during an air show held at Korat Air Base, Thailand, just before exercise COPE TIGER.


Exercise objectives included maintaining military-to-military relations between Singapore, Thai and U.S. forces. Objectives also included planning and executing strategic air movement of U.S. augmenting forces using the joint operation planning and execution system (JOPES). JOPES is an integrated, joint, conventional command and control system used to conduct joint planning, execution, and monitoring activities. Commanders use JOPES to determine the best course of action to accomplish assigned tasks and direct the actions necessary to accomplish a mission. JOPES includes people, procedures, policies, communications, and supporting information systems software.
