During
the PAMS XXV closing ceremonies, the co-hosts, Lt. Gen. Khairuddin and
Lt. Gen. Smith, praised the delegates for their accomplishments. Lt. Gen.
Smith gave his address by video recording since he could not be there
due to the tragic events of September 11th.
Lt.
Gen. Khairuddin and Col. Steven Peace, the USARPAC G5 who represented
Lt. Gen. Smith, presented PAMS mementos to the participants. Col. Peace
then passed the PAMS flag from Lt. Gen. Khairuddin, representing this
years Malaysian hosts, to Brig. Gen. Herb Petras, representing the
Canadian delegation, that will co-host PAMS XXVI in 2002 in Calgary, Alberta.
As the
future co-host of PAMS XXVI, Brig. Gen. Petras said, "We will do
our best to maintain the standard of achievement of PAMS XXV. We learned
quite a bit while we were here, and we look forward to seeing you in Calgary."
