RIMPACs
multilateral maneuvers provided participants a rare opportunity to gain
experience operating in combined and multinational exercise operations.
Chilean
and the Republic of Korea forces both supported RIMPACs Multinational
Force (MNF). The scenario called for the MNF to establish maritime superiority
in the waters surrounding the Hawaiian Islands. The Japanese contingent
was paired with U.S. forces to form a bilateral force tasked with maintaining
maritime superiority in their assigned area. The bilateral force conducted
a surface gunnery exercise on 4 June, an anti-submarine rocket exercise
on 5 June, and an anti-air warfare missile exercise on 6 June.
