More than 50 ships, 200 aircraft, and 22,000 sailors, airmen, soldiers, Marines and Coast Guardsmen participated in RIMPAC events in waters off the coasts of the Hawaiian Islands. The exercise involved a wide variety of land- and carrier-based aircraft, amphibious operations, ground operations, surface combat, submarine and anti-submarine warfare, live-fire, and other support operations.

One of the five participating Canadian ships, HMCS Winnipeg (FFH-338), enters Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
