To prevent erosion and ruts caused by standing water, the troops dug drainage ditches on both sides of the road. Graders were used to level the road surface followed by a compactor to produce a smooth, even surface for residents.

With the project partly finished, local residents are already looking forward to a better road ahead. “We all come here every day and wave to the militaries to show our appreciation for their hard work,” said Nader Daud. “The road is not even complete yet and we all have seen improvement.”

Conclusion
The weeklong exercise successfully promoted military security cooperation among AFP and U.S. forces, helped develop AFP’s Rapid Deployment Force, and supported the country’s humanitarian and civic assistance campaign through combined efforts. The medical, dental, veterinary care; engineering projects; and community activities not only boosted moral and welfare, but also reflected the importance of caring, cooperation, and selfless service for the common good.

Lt. Gen. Christie B. Datu, AFP Deputy Chief of Staff, noted that the exercise would not have been successful without the dedication and commitment exemplified by both forces and the overwhelming support from the local residents.
